Las Vegas-based maker of electronic gaming machines (EGMs) PlayAGS Inc, (NYSE: AGS) and the company’s primary operating entity, AGS LLC, has been named in a lawsuit filed in Nevada by casino equipment supplier Aristocrat Technologies Inc. (ASX: ALL) alleging federal trademark and trademark infringement of its “proprietary Buffalo™ brand, franchise, and intellectual property.”

Filed on March 5, 2018 in the Ninth Circuit Nevada District Court, Las Vegas Office, Aristocrat Technologies, Inc. et al v. AGS, LLC et al, case number 2:18-cv-00396, also alleges unfair competition.

According to the press release (pdf) Aristocrat Technologies, a subsidiary of Australian slot machine manufacturer Aristocrat Leisure Ltd, is seeking damages and has reportedly requested a trial by jury.

In the Thursday press release, managing director of Americas for Aristocrat Technologies, Matt Wilson, said, “We will aggressively protect our market-leading brands and intellectual property in every jurisdiction. Buffalo is an iconic game franchise and an enduring player favourite,” reports GGRAsia.

According to the court docket, PlayAGS, Inc. was served a summons on March 8, 2018 by Aristocrat Technologies, Inc., Aristocrat International Pty Ltd., Aristocrat Technologies Australia Pty Ltd, with the answer due March 29, 2018.
